Featured in Sotheby’s “A Life Less Ordinary” series this year, these collectors and tastemakers embody the extraordinary potential of a life lived with art.

T he videos in “A Life Less Ordinary” share the illuminating perspectives of collectors and tastemakers. From an actor invited to guest curate an auction, to a musician inspired to pick up a paintbrush, to a perfumer who seeks to capture the essence of the Old Masters, here are just a few of the extraordinary individuals who shared their stories with Sotheby’s this year.

Robert Pattinson

Celebrated actor and producer Robert Pattinson lent his curatorial eye to this September’s Contemporary Curated auction. His edit of six artworks – spanning media and mixing established names like Richard Serra and Willem de Kooning with rising stars likeGenieve Figgis and Lynette Yiadom-Boakye – reflects his acting experience and his own taste in art, as well as that of his characters.

Martina Mondadori

This autumn, Sotheby’s collaborated with Cabana magazine’s founder and editor-in-chief, Martina Mondadori, on the inaugural series of Classic Design auctions. Visiting Mondadori in her childhood home, designed by the great Renzo Mongiardino, her ability to mix and layer classic design appears both effortless and timeless.

Williams Godrich

This winter, Sotheby’s Dubai hosts a solo exhibition of 15 black-and-white paintings by Williams Godrich – a persona combining the musician Robbie Williams and his creative partner, Ed Godrich. Here, the two share the story of their artistic journey.

Lyn Harris

Here, Lyn Harris, founder of Perfumer H, speaks about her work translating her olfactory vision of three Old Masters paintings in one of the most exciting sensory responses to a Sotheby’s art collection. Harris ultimately crafted three bespoke perfumes – inspired by Abraham Govaerts, Osias Beert the Elder and Peter Binoit – and this episode illuminates how a creator can respond to art of the past in the most unexpected and timeless ways.

Robin Woodhead

Robin Woodhead is a former CEO and Chairman of Sotheby’s. Se’s also an extraordinary collector of art, design objects, photographs and furniture. In this episode, Woodhead revisits a familiar space – the auction house’s warehouse – which temporarily held his distinguished collection, lovingly gathered across years, continents, eras and disciplines.
