  Patek Philippe, Reference 1518 | A pink gold perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch with moon phases and pink dial, Made in 1948
  Sold: HKD 22,760,000

  Reference 1518 was launched in 1941 and marks the beginning of a golden era for Patek Philippe. The reference 1518 was the firm’s first wristwatch ever to feature a chronograph and a perpetual calendar to be made in a series. Scholarship suggests that during the reference’s 14-year production run, a total of 281 examples were made and the majority in yellow gold. It is exceedingly rare to find examples in pink gold and rarer still to find pink gold examples fitted with a pink dial.

  Patek Philippe, Reference 2499, 2nd Series, The Only Known Luminous Example | A yellow gold perpetual calendar chronograph wristwatch with moon phases, luminous baton indexes and hands and original Certificate of Origin, Circa 1958

  Not seen in public for 22 years, the present watch is the only known example of a 2nd series with luminous dial. Of all 349 reference 2499 made over three decades there are only five luminous examples known. one 1st series, two 3rd series, one transitional model and the current example. The rarity of the present example is enhanced further by the presence of the original Certificate of Origin dated 8th March, 1958.

  Patek Philippe introduced the Nautilus in 1976 and in doing so created one of the most iconic and classic wristwatches of the late 20th century. It was a new era of luxury and glamour and Gérald Genta’s design, inspired by the portholes of transatlantic ocean liners, changed the sports watch forever. Known by the market simply as the ‘Jumbo’ the first Nautilus, reference 3700 made from stainless steel, had a case with a wide flat bezel, integrated link bracelet, and ultra-thin automatic movement. The watch had a tremendously masculine aesthetic compared to other, smaller dressy gold mechanical watches of the time.
