Cartier was founded in 1847 by Louis-Francois Cartier, who took over his master's workshop. Despite the uncertainty and disruption during the ongoing French Revolution, Cartier kept going strong and continued to see success and growth over the next decade, finally with the first opening of a Cartier boutique in 1859.
Cartier wanted to establish the company internationally, not only to make the Cartier name famous among the crowned heads of Europe, and was named "King of Jewellers, Jeweller of Kings." In 1904, Cartier launched their first famous Santos wristwatch and followed it with other iconic wristwatch timepieces over the years.
The watch is in overall very good condition with light wear throughout commensurate with age. Case is in overall good condition with minor surface wear and light scratches.
