Rolex launched the Submariner 5513 in 1962, eight years after the diver's watch introduction to the market. It was produced until 1989, making it one of the longest-lasting references in the Submariner family. Its design remained quite unchanged over 27 years, however, collectors can differentiate the early gloss dials from the subsequent matte dials and finally the gold-circled index dials. The present example features a matte black "meters first" dial that has developed a strong character over the years.
