Description

Original concept artwork for the film Star Wars by Michelangelo Papuzza.

  • Michelangelo Papuzza (Italian, dates unknown).
  • Tempera on artboard.
  • This work is presented framed.

This original concept artwork by Michelangelo Papuzza was designed for the Italian poster campaign, but it was not used on any of the posters. However, it was used on the cover for the book/essay Star Wars by George Lucas and Alan Dean Foster published by Club Degli Editori in 1978. On the back there are some indications in pencil from the art director to Papuzza regarding the elements of the drawing to be modified for the definitive version, together with text saying 'campaign wide B/2'. These can be seen through the perspex window on the back of the frame.
