Expert Voices: Helena Newman on Giacometti's Caroline

New York | 14 November

Helena Newman, Chairman of Sotheby's Europe and Worldwide Head of Impressionist and Modern Art, explores the tour de force of Albert Giacometti's oil production, Caroline (1962). Born Yvonne Poiraudeau, Caroline became one of Giacometti's great muses and would indelibly impact the last great apogee of his artistic practice. She sat for around 30 canvases between 1961 and 1965, which are heralded today as the artist's most enigmatic and captivating painted portraits.

This towering work will be one of the highlights of the Modern Evening Auction in New York on the 14th of November at 18:30 EST. Watch the livestream on Sothebys.com.
