S otheby’s Department of  Science & Popular Culture is pleased to present The Archive of Skateland U.S.A., Compton, CA, now available for private sale. The archive is an exciting historical record from the legendary Los Angeles roller rink where some of the biggest names in Hip Hop got their start, including Dr. Dre, Eazy-E, Ice Cube and N.W.A. It includes an impressive selection of show posters, rink signage, apparel, and audio equipment – most notably the original Technics SL-1200MK2 turntables used in every Skateland show from 1984-1988. 

This offering provides a unique opportunity for music lovers of all generations to own a formative piece of Hip Hop history and is a testament to the genre which has since exploded into a global phenomenon.
