The Paris Sales

March & April 2023 | Paris
Following the record-breaking first edition in Paris last year, Surrealism and its Legacy will present 50 years of Surrealist icons. The auction will showcase great innovators of the early 20th century, such as Magritte, Picabia, Tanguy, Ernst and Dalí, alongside their contemporary heirs, Fontana, Calder and Ruscha. The Robert and Helga Ehret Collection focuses on the German avant-garde with Franz Marc, Feininger, Nolde and Ernst Wilhelm Nay. The Impressionist & Modern Art Evening Auction will be led by works by Monet, Redon and Picasso.

Daniel Roseberry on the Heritage of Surrealism at Schiaparelli

As part of the exploration of the fantastical worlds that Surrealism continues to inhabit, Sotheby’s invited Daniel Roseberry, the creative director of Schiaparelli to paint a picture of the impact the movement had in the fashion world. The Haute Couture house has a long history of strikingly surreal designs, with its founder Elsa Schiaparelli having been a friend of artists including Salvador Dali and Man Ray.
