The Nazi-Looted Art of Jakob Goldschmidt & Emanuël Vita Israel

24 NOVEMBER - 5 DECEMBER | LONDON

Prior to World War II, Jakob Goldschmidt and Emanuël Vita Israel were two of Europe’s most prolific art collectors. In this episode of Expert Voices, Sotheby’s Worldwide Head of Restitution, Lucian Simmons, explains how their carefully curated collections were lost to the Nazis and reveals two works that were returned to their rightful heirs. Goldschmidt’s rare Renaissance relief and Vita Israel’s medieval situla are just two of the many highlights of our upcoming sale Old Master Sculpture and Works of Art (24 November – 5 December).
